Everton Football Club is an English football club that currently plays in the Premier League. Everton is based in the city of Liverpool. The fans also call it: The Toffees, The Toffeemen, The Blues, The People's Club. The nicknames: "The Toffees" and "The Toffeemen" came from the name of "Mother Noblett's Toffee Shop" shop, which sold sweets and the Everton Mint, on match days. In such a way appeared the Toffee Lady tradition: a girl walks around the perimeter of the stadium before the start of a match throwing free Everton Mints into the crowd. The home ground of the club is Goodison Park that was built in 1892. It is a stadium that consists of four stands: The Park End, Bullens Road, Gwladys Street End, Main Stand. The total capacity of the stands is 40,569 all-seated. Goodison Park is one of the oldest football stadium in the world and was the first main football ground in England. The present chairman of the club is Bill Kenwright. He is an actor and theatrical producer. The current manager is David William Moyes. He is a former player. He played for such football clubs as: Celtic (1980-1983), Cambridge United (1983-1985), Bristol City (1985-1987), Shrewsbury Town (1987-1990), Dunfermline Athletic (1990-1993), Hamilton Academical (1993), Preston North End (1993-1998). The club was formed in 1878 and the first name was St. Domingo F.C. One year later at a meeting in the Queen's Head Hotel the club was renamed and became Everton F.C. They were the founder members of the Football League and spent more seasons in the top flight of English football than any other football club.
